Hyatt to Offer In-Room Streaming Entertainment Worldwide

Soon enough, you can start streaming Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and more when you check into a Hyatt property around the world.

The hospitality company is the latest to offer personalized in-room streaming entertainment, following in the footsteps of Marriott International.

To offer this service, Hyatt teamed up with Sonifi Solutions to utilize its Staycast (previously known as Sonicast) technology, which uses Google Chromecast and integrates with the World of Hyatt mobile app.

Airlines and Airports Look to Biometrics to Improve the Passenger Experience

Recently, passengers on some KLM flights departing Amsterdam haven’t shown a boarding pass to get on a plane. They haven’t needed to show their IDs, nor have they interacted with an agent at the boarding door.

Instead, KLM has been using facial recognition software for a multi-month trial that began in February. By the time each passenger boards at the airline’s test gate, KLM’s systems already have scanned the traveler’s passport, boarding pass, and face. From there, passengers get on the plane — no documents required. Then, after the flight, the airline erases the data.

Social Airline Concepts Make Flying more fun

New advances in business class travel combine customizable touches with sociable settings, not unlike the spacious lounges and cozy couches of planes in the 1960s and '70s.

The latest design concepts feature customizable group-seating pods, sleek lounge bars and, soon enough, co-working spaces -- all at 35,000 feet.

These changes come with a trend toward experiential travel, in which "authenticity and personalized experiences" are key components of a fulfilling journey, according to a 2016 US Experiential Traveler Survey by travel industry intelligence platform Skift.
