| Airlines Sound Alarm on Possible Security Fee Hike | |

Congress isn't expected to raise taxes as part of any 2014 budget deal, but it might hike some "user fees" the federal government charges businesses and individuals. A likely possibility: An increase in a passenger security fee that industry lobbyists warn could add to the price of plane tickets.
Right now the passenger security fee per ticket is $2.50 for each leg of a trip. But the total fee to get to a destination is capped at $5.

Travel + Leisure readers evaluated U.S. airports as part of the World’s Best Awards survey and found that more hubs should follow the example of Indianapolis, voted No. 1 in the check-in and security category. Ample natural light helps travelers find their way from point to point, check-in counters are never more than 45 feet from the entrance doors, and the baggage system moves luggage quickly in and out of the building.
